It doesn't remind me of Hawaii ^^ But it does remind me of butterflies.
And Anathema song "Flying". Really nice :)

Anathema? Can't say I've heard of them...what're they like??

And I can kinda level with butterflies more than Hawaii too ^^

Anathema is very hard to describe ^^ They're not very popular, despite the fact that they have been playing for 17 years now...
In short words, they made their way from doom metal, through different types of rock, to more progressive areas. Someone said that their last record is atmospheric rock and I wouldn't describe it any better even if I tried ^^.
It's impossible to know them by one song or one record 'cause they're so different in styles, however all records have something in common, some kind of emotional charge, something unique what makes You know that's Anathema :)
The song I recalled is "Flying" from their last record, A Natural Disaster.
It's very... spacious :) I don't know what type of music do You like, but here You are:

Sorry about that, I just couldn't decide which performance is better :blushes:
Erin reminded me of the first one, little bit calmer:) I think.
Hope You didn't get very bored and watched both of them ^^
And just to make You know a little bit of what Anathema is...

[link] - A Dying Wish, something stronger ^^

I hope to know what do You think about it :) BE HONEST ;)
Oh, the lead guitarist is Danny - my usual drawing model ;)

Hmmm...they've got a really....pure texture to them. I'm sure there will be some day when this is exactly what I'm looking for, but for right now, I'll stick to my rock roots :-P

Thanks for shedding the light on them!

Ah, I read that Your favourite group is Breaking Benjamin ^^
I'm not surprised that You didn't like "Flying".
But I hope that You tried listening to "A Dying Wish", may suit You better :) And something for the end - [link]

Rock roots? ^^ Now I'm curious :) Tell me more about it :)
Don't be afraid to say that You didn't like it ^^ It's specific, doesn't fit everyone. I usually give some songs of Anathema to someone after knowing what that person listens to, 'cause there are many stages of their music. There are not many people who like all their work :) But I won't push You to listen to it, don't be afraid ;)
You know, few weeks ago I was on Danny's solo acoustic shows - I took my friends to it and one was astonished, and the other said that it was "ok". That other one was sending sms during "One Last Goodbye" - only song and only gig in my life when I saw people in the crowd crying. So, it just doesn't fit everyone's tastes. Anathema goes in different directions, I hated one record for almost 4 years and then just came back to it accidentally... and fell in love. Maybe I had to grew up to it, don't know.

Making that kind of music is in some way bad - they can't earn a living only from playing... but on the other hand I could talk to Danny after the show and it wasn't only "I lived the show"-"Thanks, next one!" type of talk ^^

I know, I know, I'm talkative and probably You got bored with Anathema already :D

Ahh, my rock roots....alright. Here goes (this could honestly be a journal post.)

I wouldn't necessarily declare myself as a rebel, but when your sister is a fan of every musical ever put on a stage and your mother is a devout christian and, in turn, loves gospel, you try to do something different (Dad was there, too, but he liked the music of his generation, so that was where he stood). The beat of your own drum. When I was younger, I went with the music everyone else deemed as good. Which, unfortunately for some, belonged to Ace of Base, Will Smith, Third Eye Blind, and Sixpence None the Richer. When I finally realized that society doesn't determine it's people, rather, people determine society, I broke free. I snapped. I was listening to music I thought sounded good (I still listen to most of those bands). Bands like New Found Glory, MXPX, Midtown, the Ataris and the like. Then came a real change...I picked up a guitar and started learning to play. How to play my own songs, how to write my own lyrics, what I feel inside. That's when I went from what sounded good to what sounded phenomenal. Avenged Sevenfold, DragonForce, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, BB King...The greats. I can hold my own with a guitar, but as is creed of any artist, I can always get better. :)

As for Anathema, I won't say they're bad because they aren't. But right now, it's just not my feel.
